CAREERS
At Rachel Usher Interior Design we don't view our work as simply a 9-5. To us it's a mission - a career where you are part of a diverse team who are passionate about each and every aspect of the interior design process; from concept, scheme, detail design and installation to the not-so-glamorous phases of transforming a clients space.
We don't see ourselves as just ‘an interior design studio’ - our team understands that our work within the practice is worth more than that. We create experiences and enhance lifestyles, thinking past the notion that design relates to aesthetics only.
We embrace individuality within a relaxed, collaborative work environment and our small, but perfectly formed team are dedicated, committed and loyal - not only to their individual role or duties but to each other too.
CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES

Usher & Co Middleweight Interior Designer | Studio-based role at our Nottinghamshire studio
We are taking our time with this hire.
Not because we’re indecisive, but because culture matters here, and it matters more now than it ever has.Usher & Co is transitioning into an Employee Ownership Trust, which means every appointment we make shapes the future of the studio, not just the next project. This role is not a stepping stone, a placeholder, or a “see how it goes”. We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to belong to a studio, contribute meaningfully, and grow with us.
The role:
This is a middleweight interior designer position for someone with a minimum of five years’ experience working within a high-end interior design studio.
Applicants must be qualified to degree level in Interior Design or Interior Architecture, with a 2:1 or above. If this qualification and level of experience are not already in place, this role will not be the right fit.
You will be involved across live luxury residential and some small scale boutique commercial projects, from concept through to delivery, working closely with both junior and senior designers alongside the wider studio team. Our work is detailed, layered, and emotionally considered and we expect the same level of care from the people we bring into the business.
What matters to us:
We are looking for someone who:
Has exceptional attention to detail, including in how you read, interpret, and respond to this advert
Is fully fluent in AutoCAD and the Adobe Suite
Understands brand awareness and how a studio’s identity is expressed through design, documentation, and behaviour
Has a genuine, provable interest in design, not just as a job, but as a discipline
Can demonstrate a desire to push boundaries thoughtfully, not chase trends
Is organised, commercially aware, and understands the realities of delivering high-end projects
Has experience with Estimac (an advantage, not essential)
We are not looking for generalists, career-switchers, or applicants hoping to “grow into” a middleweight role. Please only apply if you can clearly recognise yourself in the above.
How we work:
This is a studio-centric role
No working from home
No international candidates requiring sponsorship
Our studio environment is collaborative, hands-on, and deeply human. The work benefits from shared energy, shared standards, and being present together.
Why Usher & Co?
We design homes that are emotionally intelligent, sensory, and deeply personal. We don’t chase trends, and we don’t design for aesthetics alone. Our work is about how people live, feel, and move through their spaces and that philosophy extends to how we run our studio.
If you are looking for a place where standards are high, expectations are clear, and contribution genuinely matters this may be the right fit.
How to apply:
Please submit your CV and portfolio only if you meet the experience requirements outlined above. We will be assessing not just your work, but how carefully and thoughtfully you present yourself.
Please email your CV and portfolio to studio@rachelusher.uk and if you are successful we will be in touch to discuss the next steps.
We are happy to wait for the right person.
