USHER & CO STUDIO DAY

A full day of design creativity at Usher & Co Interior Design. Not every project needs a full interior design service.
We understand that many people would still benefit from access to professional advice before making important decisions.

They want an experienced creative eye on their ideas. They want to know they have considered everything before committing to big decisions about their home, which is often their most valuable asset. They don’t always know how to move from forming an idea to implementing it, or how to access the resources needed to make it happen.

That is exactly why we created The Usher & Co Studio Day. A dedicated day at our studio, working one to one with one of our designers.

WHAT WE CAN COVER:

Clients typically use the session to explore things such as:

• Reviewing architectural plans and layouts
• Improving flow and functionality within a home
• Colour palettes and materials
• Kitchens, bathrooms and bespoke joinery ideas
• Lighting approaches and atmosphere
• Furniture solutions
• Fabrics, textures and finish recommendations
• How to approach a renovation or new build and what to consider
• The overall design direction of the project

Some clients arrive with very specific questions Others simply want to explore ideas and possibilities. The day allows us to do both.

WHAT THE DAY LOOKS LIKE

You will be welcomed to the studio with a relaxed working breakfast. Croissants, fruit and coffee will be waiting when you arrive. We spend the morning exploring your project together, reviewing plans, discussing ideas and working through the areas where you would value guidance.

A light lunch is served in the studio before we continue the design session during the afternoon. Tea, coffee and refreshments are available throughout the day.

And if you feel like ending the day with a glass of something special, that is absolutely allowed too.

The day is relaxed, creative and practical in equal measure. Our aim is for you to feel comfortable, relaxed and to enjoy the process.

WHAT WILL YOU LEAVE WITH?

By the end of the day you will have clarity and direction for your project.

At the beginning of the session you will receive your Usher & Co Studio Pack, which we use to capture ideas, notes and recommendations throughout the day. Inside you will find space to record key decisions, sketches, materials and design thinking as the session unfolds. Where appropriate we may also include small samples or references discussed during the day.

At the end of your visit your Studio Pack will be placed inside an Usher & Co studio tote, along with a small gift from the studio.

A DAY ENTIRELY FOCUSED ON YOUR PROJECT

Our Nottinghamshire studio was purposefully designed as a creative environment for both our team and our clients. You will spend the day in our private client space and materials library, surrounded by carefully curated finishes, fabrics and samples. You may come alone, with a friend or partner, or alongside your architect or builder.

Some clients arrive with detailed plans. Others arrive with a collection of ideas, questions and interior conundrums they would like help resolving.

Wherever you are in your project, the day is shaped around you. You will have our full attention for the entire day. Our thinking, creativity and experience will be focused entirely on your project.

WHO IS THE DAY FOR?

The Studio Day works particularly well for:

• Renovations or new builds where you would value professional guidance
• Clients who want expert advice before committing to full interior design services
• Projects that need a clear design direction
• Clients who enjoy being involved in the creative process

We can also support private developers and small commercial clients too – we’re a perfect fit.
The Studio Day is not intended as a quick consultation. It is best suited to clients who are genuinely planning a renovation, new build or significant redesign and want to approach it thoughtfully.

  • RACHEL USHER, CREATIVE FOUNDER

    £3,200 + VAT

Rachel founded Usher & Co in 2012 and remains the creative force behind the studio. Her approach to design is rooted in the belief that a home should feel deeply personal. It should reflect the way people live, support the rhythm of everyday life and create the setting for the moments that matter.

Rachel enjoys working closely with clients to understand how they want their home to feel, not just how it should look. She is particularly interested in the layering of materials, combining texture, tone and natural finishes to create spaces that feel warm, considered and quietly distinctive.

Her aesthetic sits somewhere between classic English design and the relaxed sensibility of California, resulting in interiors that feel elegant but never overly formal. Rachel is currently enjoying working with tile and marble, often exploring unexpected ways to use these materials to bring character and individuality into a space. She is also very clear about one personal preference — she is not a fan of fabric lampshades. No one is entirely sure why, but she remains unconvinced.

A Studio Day with Rachel tends to be thoughtful, collaborative and idea rich, particularly well suited to projects where clients want to explore design direction, materials and the bigger picture of how their home will come together.

  • TANU SEMBI, SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER

    £2,100 + VAT

Tanu is an interior designer with a decade of experience working on high-end residential projects both in the UK and internationally. Throughout her career, she has developed a strong interest in spatial planning and creating homes that support the way people live day to day. From thoughtful layouts to practical storage solutions, Tanu believes that well-designed spaces should enhance daily routines while remaining calm, balanced and beautiful.

Her design approach focuses on establishing a strong, timeless base palette that can be layered with texture, tone and detail to create depth and warmth within a space. She is drawn to materials and finishes that stand the test of time, ensuring that interiors feel refined and enduring rather than trend-led.

Tanu’s style leans towards clean, contemporary lines with carefully considered details that bring character and interest to a scheme. She has a strong preference for soft, refined forms and avoids overly angular or harsh elements, particularly square sanitaryware, which she considers both visually unappealing and not practical in use.

Above all, she believes that how a space makes you feel is fundamental to good design, and that every element within a project should contribute to creating an environment that feels comfortable, cohesive and personal to the client.

  • COLETTE LOWE, INTERIOR DESIGNER

    £1,450 + VAT

Colette brings a keen eye for detail and a thoughtful approach to selecting the right pieces for every project, from finishes and fabrics to furniture.

Her approach to design is shaped by a belief that interiors should feel like an immersive space where design and craftsmanship intertwine. She is particularly interested in how lighting, artwork and carefully chosen details can transform the mood of a room and create interiors that feel layered, personal, and inviting.

Colette’s aesthetic leans towards the contemporary, often combining abstract prints with layered textures to create interiors that feel timeless yet personal.

Colette has an aversion to the colour red, which rarely makes its way into her schemes.

  • TARAN HAMMOCK, INTERIOR DESIGNER

    £1,450 + VAT

Taran is dedicated to creating spaces that nurture wellbeing and elevate everyday living. Her approach blends natural materials with thoughtful, sensory design. By prioritising how a space feels as much as how it looks, Taran crafts interiors that support balance, comfort, and a deeper connection to the natural world.

At heart, Taran values authentic design that celebrates those living in the space, while honouring the historical and geographical context of the architecture. She believes that each and every element in a project is carefully considered to respect these crucial narratives.

Taran leans towards a quintessentially English style that feels curated over time, homely, and nourishes the soul. She enjoys the “quiet use of colour” in her designs, believing that colour is the gateway to the most rich and enveloping of spaces when used in a soft, sophisticated manner.

Understanding that design is entirely subjective, Taran welcomes all ideas, and is an advocate of exploratory design. Although she does have a strong aversion to brilliant white...
